China's foreign ministry said on Friday that all countries should protect the normal order of trade.
Hua Chunying, spokesperson of the ministry, made the comments when she was asked about United States' decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum exports from the European Union, Canada and Mexico.
China is willing to work with relevant countries to continue to adhere to multilateralism and international rules, said Hua.
She has also called for joint efforts to promote economic globalization and to build an open world economy.
