Hong Kong can be a global tourism hub and bring overseas visitors to China's Greater Bay Area, an official of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said Thursday at a travel forum.
Belt & Road International Tourism Forum on New Business Opportunities was held on Thursday in Hong Kong amid the ongoing 32nd International Travel Expo (ITE) Hong Kong.
Speaking at the forum, Bernard Chan, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR government, said that Hong Kong, as an important international city and logistics hub in Asia, has diversified tourism resources and products, which can play the role of being a global tourism hub.
This, in turn, will bring tourists from the overseas to visit the the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on multi-destination itineraries, Chan said, adding that the Greater Bay Area has huge potential in developing into a world-class tourism area.
When the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link are in use, Hong Kong will have a closer link with other cities in the Greater Bay Area, when people's relationship in the area and cooperation between companies will be enhanced, unleashing further tourism potential.
