China hopes the United States can join efforts with the country to explore appropriate ways to promote cooperation and resolve differences between the world's two largest economies, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.
Gao Feng, the ministry's spokesman, said China hopes the two sides can boost healthy and stable development of relations in the future.
The country is open to resume negotiations with the U.S. on bilateral investment agreement, and to initiate talks on bilateral free trade agreement at a proper time, Gao said. "But regrettably, the U.S. has not demonstrated its sincerity," he added.
The U.S. escalated trade conflict that could harm global trade and investment by imposing tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars on Chinese goods over the recent few months, which forced China to retaliate.
