“As the world's largest supplier of telecommunications network equipment, Huawei has maintained good cooperation with other countries and regions. Huawei's business partners have spoken highly of the quality, reputation and safety of its products,” said China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying at a regular press conference on Wednesday.
There is no evidence from any partner showing the so-called safety threat posed by Huawei, as claimed by certain countries. Hua made the remark in response to whether what Huawei's rotating chairman said is helpful to the case of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou.
Huawei held a press conference on Tuesday, with its rotating chairman clarifying that Huawei is unrelated to the Chinese government and won't give up on the U.S. market.
It's narrow-minded for some countries to politicize scientific development and cooperation, suppressing Chinese high-tech companies, including Huawei, in the name of “possible safety threat.” This obviously violates the WTO's principle of non-discrimination, the spokeswoman said.
She emphasized that respect for the rights of Chinese enterprises should be guaranteed. Chinese enterprises have been growing, progressing and have become more engaged in the international community. Any defamation or attack won't stop their development.
