In 2018, China's patent grants and ownership increased steadily, up 5.8 percent and 17.6 percent respectively over the same period in 2017. The number of patents per 10,000 population increased by 1.7 year on year, according to China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) during a press conference on Thursday morning.
Hu Wenhui, the director of CNIPA, said at the press conference that the international community is getting increasingly confident on intellectual property protection in China. In 2018, the number of foreign patent applications in China reached 148,000, an increase of 9.1 percent over the previous year, hitting the fastest growth rate since the 13th Five-Year Plan.
Achievements have been made in a wide array of areas, including trademark registration, geographical logo, the layout design of integrated circuit, etc.
