The Chinese and U.S. teams are in close contact for trade talks and China hopes the two sides can avoid escalating trade tensions by maintaining equality and mutual respect, which is in line with the agreements reached between two countries' leaders on the sidelines of the G20 Osaka Summit last week, said Gao Feng, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC), at a regular press conference on Thursday.
"The U.S. side imposed tariffs unilaterally in the beginning of the Sino-U.S. trade tensions. All the tariffs should be lifted if China and the U.S. want to reach an agreement. China's attitude is specific and consistent," added Gao.
