The Customs Tariff Commission of Chinese State Council on Friday decided to impose an additional duty of either 10 percent or 5 percent on 5,078 items of U.S. products worth about 75 billion U.S. dollars, in response to the U.S. announcement to impose additional duties on Chinese imports.
The tariffs will be imposed in two installments. The first round of tariffs will take effect on September 1 and the second batch on December 15.
