China voiced grave concerns regarding Japan's proposed export restrictions on specific items within the semiconductor sector and other areas, according to an online statement released by the Ministry of Commerce on Monday.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce said that these proposed actions by Japan could severely disrupt the routine trade operations between Chinese and Japanese companies and undermine the stability of the global supply chain.
The commerce official urged Japan to promptly address and rectify its misguided actions, noting that China is prepared to take the necessary actions to protect the legitimate rights and interests of its companies.
As the semiconductor industry is highly globalized, the spokesperson said that certain countries have overly broadened the definition of national security, misused export control measures and contributed to the fragmentation of the global market.
These moves have severely deviated from the principles of free trade and multilateral trade rules, heavily impacting the stability of global industrial and supply chains, according to the statement.
