China and Europe have been involved in intense price commitment negotiations this week in Beijing after the European Commission's recent announcement to impose import tariffs of up to 36.3 percent on electric vehicles produced in China, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

Price commitment means both parties should negotiate on an equal footing to determine a mutually acceptable minimum exporting price.

The European technical team arrived in Beijing on Nov 2, and the two sides have been exchanging views on specific contents of the price commitment plans based on pragmatic and balanced principles, the ministry said during a press conference in Beijing.

On Oct 25, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao held a video conference with European Commission Executive Vice-President and Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis. Both sides reiterated their political wills to resolve differences through dialogues, and they clarified that price commitment plans will continue to be the solution for the case.
