All 331 members of the 8th Chinese peacekeeping engineer and medical detachments to South Sudan were awarded the UN Peace Medals on July 26.
The force consists of a 268-member engineer detachment and a 63-member medical detachment.
Since deployed to their mission areas from September of 2017, the detachments have fulfilled many construction projects and medical assistance tasks, such as rush-repairing roads, rescuing and treating sick refugees, participating in local firefighting operations and rescue work of a crashed civilian plane at the Wau Airport.
