China strongly urged the United States to withdraw its sanctions on the Chinese military. The Trump administration has imposed penalties on the purchase of national defense equipment from Russia, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a regular press conference in Beijing.
The United States said China's armed forces are in breach of the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act of 2017 (CAATSA) which was implemented to punish Moscow for meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.
