More than 10,000 athletes from 105 countries and regions have registered to compete in the upcoming 7th Military World Games to be held in central China’s Wuhan City in October.
During a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday, Jiang Chaoliang, the Secretary of Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, said that "all 35 venues have either been built or refurbished, and a series of test events are being held prior to the opening of the Games."
According to Jiang, most of the venues and facilities will open to professional training, teaching, and research after the Games.
The host city Wuhan has launched the idea of a low-Carbon Military World Games, after the local government released a new app that measures residents' contributions to the reduction of greenhouse gases for the purpose of carbon offsets.
Zhang Gao, Deputy Manager of China Hubei Emission Exchange said, "Users can donate their reduction to realize the carbon offsets."
"The reductions are then measured in scores that can be exchanged for the tickets to the Games," he added.
