The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) will send contestants to the International Army Games 2020 to be held in Russia from Aug. 23 to Sept. 5, a military spokesperson said Thursday.
The Chinese contestants will be sent by the PLA Army and Air Force, and will participate in competitions including the tank biathlon and scouting competition, said Ren Guoqiang, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, at a press conference.
Ren said that at this critical time of the global joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese military's participation in the games is aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation between the Chinese and Russian militaries, deepening practical cooperation in military training, and improving the training and combat readiness of Chinese troops.
