Chinese, Vietnamese coast guards launch second joint patrol in Beibu Gulf in 2024

A fleet of China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels is heading to the Beibu Gulf on Monday to conduct the second joint patrol in the Beibu Gulf of the year with the Vietnam Coast Guard. This marks the 28th joint patrol conducted by the maritime law enforcement agencies of China and Vietnam since 2006, according to a statement from the CCG on Monday.

During the joint patrol, both sides will enforce regulations on the operating vessels of the two countries in the Beibu Gulf, engage in exchanges to combat smuggling and illegal activities at sea, standardize the order of maritime fishing operations, properly handle maritime emergencies, and jointly maintain stability at sea, according to the statement.

Chinese and Vietnamese coast guards completed their first joint patrol in the Beibu Gulf for 2024 in April.
