Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will face trial over corruption and misuse of influence, the Le Monde newspaper reported on Thursday.
Sarkozy has been under investigation over allegations he received leaked details of an inquiry into election irregularities in his 2007 election campaign, which was also marred by claims that he received illegal funding from late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
He was taken into police custody earlier this month.
