The China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership has entered a new phase featuring mutual trust and win-win cooperation, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Sunday.
Xi made the remarks while meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko who is in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao for the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Belarus is an SCO observer state.
The cooperation consensus reached between the two leaders has seen effective implementation, and the communication and cooperation between the two countries in all fields and at all levels have reached a record high level, Xi said.
People of the two countries are enjoying a stronger sense of gain thanks to the fruits of cooperation, he said.
Xi stressed that China sees Belarus as an important partner in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and appreciated the active participation of Belarus.
Over the past few years, the two countries have seen great achievements in their joint efforts of building the Belt and Road, he said, adding that the two sides should continue to strive for more cooperation achievements so as to benefit the people and realize win-win development.
Xi said the two countries should enhance the alignment of development strategies and policy communication, deepen cooperation in terms of economy and trade, and investment.
He asked the two countries to promote the construction of the China-Belarus industrial park and ensure that relevant cooperative projects should gain their due economic and social benefits.
The president also said China supports Belarus to participate in cooperation under the framework of the SCO to bring more benefits to countries and people in the region.
Lukashenko congratulated Xi on his successful chairing of the SCO summit, and spoke highly of the spirit of equality and democracy China demonstrated in organizing the summit.
He said the two countries were all-weather partners and friends and always supported each other on major issues of common concern.
Belarus firmly supports and actively participates in the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to deepen communication and cooperation with China in fields such as economy and trade, people-to-people communication and culture, he said.
After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents.
