State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend a meeting to discuss the Iran nuclear issue with foreign ministers from France, Germany, Russia, Britain and Iran in Vienna on Friday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang announced the news at a daily news briefing on Wednesday.
This is the first foreign ministers' meeting among the existing participants of the Iran nuclear deal, Lu said, adding that Wang's attendance has demonstrated China's firm stance to safeguard the pact.
According to Lu, Wang will also visit Austria on Thursday to meet with Austrian leaders and hold talks with Austrian Foreign Affairs Minister Karin Kneissl.
