Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Tuesday that China welcomed Monday's summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump as it will help in addressing global issues.
"Both Russia and the US bear important responsibilities for international peace and security," Hua said, adding that China is willing to see more US-Russian collaboration in the future.
The Trump-Putin summit will not change the Sino-Russian ties as the cooperation between China and Russia is the highest in the world, relative to bilateral relationships among the world's major powers, the spokesperson said. On the other side, China-US relations will not be affected by the summit.
The meeting between Putin and Trump took place in Helsinki, Finland. The two leaders discussed the current state and future of US-Russia relations as well as a range of security issues.
