The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) on Friday launched the Nelson Mandela commemorative notes and coins in remembrance for his contribution to the country.
The notes and coins of different denominations were launched by the SARB governor Lesetja Kganyago in Pretoria to mark the 100th anniversary of Mandela's birth.
Kganyago said the notes captures Mandela's life, including his upbringing, jail time and presidency.
"What could be more fitting than to commemorate his life through an instrument that we all use everyday? Money touches all of us, young and old," he said.
The launched notes include the R10, R20, R100, R200 and R5 coins.
Mandela was born on July 18, 1918 and passed away in 2013.
