A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met with a group of sinologists in Beijing for a symposium.
Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said he hoped the sinologists could link their studies of Chinese history with the development of China today to help the world understand Chinese culture and contemporary China in depth.
Sinologists from the United States, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and India talked about China and the world over the four decades of the country's reform and opening-up. They advised boosting cultural exchanges between China and the world.
Huang said people could have a clear view of the process and logic of China's development after studying the reform and opening-up. By doing so, he said they would also be able to understand China's sound interaction and interdependence with the world.
Huang said he hoped the sinologists could deepen exchanges between countries and enhance the friendship between Chinese and people around the world.
The sinologists are attending the 2018 Symposium on China Studies, an annual event now in its sixth year hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Twenty-eight sinologists and China experts from 24 countries participated in this year's symposium.
