China expressed its condolences over the passing of former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said on Monday.
Kofi Annan, former UN chief and Nobel Peace Laureate died on Saturday in Switzerland at the age of 80 after a short illness.
“Kofi Annan was a good friend of the Chinese people,” Lu said, adding the Ghanaian diplomat had made great contributions to the development of Africa and world peace.
