Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met on Monday with Hoang Anh Tuan, a deputy secretary-general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and representatives of ASEAN member states in Beijing.
Wang said their visit symbolized that China-ASEAN cooperation has reached new heights.
He called the visiting committee of ASEAN representatives an important coordinating body for the regional organization, adding that it serves as an important bridge for exchanges between China and Southeast Asia.
"China's partnership with the ASEAN is crucial for upholding multilateralism and the international order based on UN principles," Wang added.
The representative of the Philippines, which is the association's coordinator for ties with China, said she appreciates China's commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership and "looking forward to the continued cooperation."
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership.
The annual China-ASEAN Expo taking place this week is aiming to bolster interregional innovation and create more business opportunities along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
