The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee reviewed a trial regulation on the work of Party branches and an education and training plan for officials nationwide from 2018 to 2022, at a meeting Friday.
The meeting was presided over by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
Party branches are the basic organizations of the Party and the basic units of the organizational system of the CPC, according to a statement issued after the meeting.
The formulation and implementation of the regulation, which has taken Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as a guide, have great significance for consolidating the organizational foundation of the Party's long-term governance, it said.
Party branches should expand their reach and improve the organizational and leading capability, said the statement, urging Party branches to fulfill their responsibilities for directly guiding, managing, and overseeing their members, and for organizing, communicating with, uniting and serving the people.
It also stressed the implementation of the regulation by conducting education and training to help Party members have a profound understanding about the regulation.
The meeting called for refreshed style and new accomplishments in the personnel education and training work in the new era, stressing that the priority of such work was to ensure Party members stay true to their ideals and convictions.
Efforts should be made to improve the professional competence and professional spirit of Party officials and cadres and to foster them to be more versatile, the statement said.
It also required more personalized and effective measures in education and training.
The development of Party schools at all levels, especially those at grassroots levels, should be strengthened, it said.
The statement also underlined a good learning style to combine theories with practices as well as a strict attitude in school management, teaching and study.
