Special: China's National Day

Monday marked the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, whose remarkable economic and social achievements have attracted global attention and praise from world leaders.

Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), spoke highly of China's remarkable achievements in pursuing the "Two Centenary Goals" and the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.

Sino-DPRK relations continue to develop soundly in line with a rapidly changing world, he said.

The DPRK is willing to join hands with China in implementing key consensus reached by both leaders and work toward a deepened friendship, he added.

Ivan Melnikov, first deputy chairperson of the Russian State Duma, extended a warm holiday congratulation to the Chinese people, saying that Russia and China are reliable strategic cooperative partners and each other's diplomatic priority.

The two heads of state have completed three visits during the year, guiding the development of Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination, Melnikov said.

Vice-President of the French National Assembly Carole Bureau-Bonnard said over the past four decades, China has made remarkable achievements in its modernization.

The international community is witnessing an increasingly open China with ever-improving living standards of the people and more progress in high-tech development and poverty alleviation, she said, expressing France's hope to strengthen bilateral cooperation with China.

Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Yoshimasa Hayashi made an address on the 69th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Japan-China Treaty of Peace and Friendship.

He said he was impressed by the passion of both sides towards expanding and deepening exchanges in various fields during his visit to China in May this year, saying that a friendly bilateral relationship will benefit the Asia-Pacific region at large.

Philippine presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Thursday lauded China for being a model and an example for the developing world to successfully bring prosperity to the people.

"I want to express our congratulations to you on the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China," Roque told Xinhua at the reception.

Roque added that the Philippines values its friendship with China. "We hope for a closer partnership between the Philippines and China," which will bring more benefits to both peoples, Roque said.

Myanmar's First Vice President U Myint Swe said on Wednesday that since the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially during the past 40 years since the reform and opening up, China has built a great economy.

U Myint Swe vowed to continue efforts to create a long-standing concrete relationship between Myanmar and China, adding that the two sides will continue promoting the Belt and Road Initiative and the Myanmar-China Economic Corridor.

Pakistani Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani said on Friday that Pakistan values relations with China as the bilateral relationship is the cornerstone of his country's foreign policy.

"Political transition in Pakistan will not affect Pakistan's China policy and the new government will continue working closely with China to achieve our bilateral objections," Sanjrani told over 1,000 guests including government ministers, ambassadors to Pakistan and scholars at the Chinese embassy in Islamabad.

The Senate chairman said the Pakistani people appreciate China's support for their country's national security and vowed his country will continue to stick to the one-China policy and support China on issues related to its core interests.

He also hailed China as a model of economic growth for the low income countries in Asia, Africa and South America, adding that Pakistan appreciates and supports the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and vision of shared prosperity and win-win cooperation.
