Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a welcome ceremony hosted by Governor-General of Papua New Guinea (PNG) Bob Dadae in the capital Port Moresby on Friday.
Xi arrived in PNG Thursday, kicking off the first visit by a Chinese head of state to the Pacific island nation since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976.
He will also attend the 26th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting this weekend.
PNG is the first stop of Xi's Asia-Pacific tour, which will also take him to Brunei and the Philippines.
