Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Ri Kil Song, vice foreign minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Beijing on Thursday afternoon, shortly after the end of the second summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un.
Trump and Kim held talks in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Wednesday and Thursday but failed to reach concrete agreement.
During a press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said China is willing to play a constructive role and hopes the U.S. and the DPRK can maintain their talks and respect each other's concerns.
