Using national power to groundlessly discredit and suppress specific enterprises is a flagrant act of political manipulation, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, urging all countries to provide a just, fair and transparent environment for bilateral exchange and cooperation.
Wang made the remarks Friday at a press conference in Beijing on the sidelines of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), answering media questions regarding China's attitude toward the case related to Huawei's Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou.
China resolutely safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese businesses and citizens, Wang said, encouraging the country's citizens to use legal tools to protect their legitimate rights.
The minister also called on relevant parties to make more efforts to discard their ideological bias and offer level playing fields for enterprises.
