Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the ninth China-EU High Level Strategic Dialogue in Brussels, Belgium, on March 18, at the invitation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang announced at a regular press conference on Thursday, noting that Wang Yi will have deep communications with other EU foreign ministers at a working luncheon on that day.
"The China-EU relations have maintained a sound momentum of development and cooperation between the two sides in various fields has yielded fruitful outcomes," Lu said, stressing that China and EU have the same stance against protectionism and unilateralism.
China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership was established in 2003 and the two sides held eight dialogues successful in the past years.
Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Europe later this month in another signal that the continent remains a priority on China's political agenda.
Wang made the remarks at a press conference in Beijing on the sidelines of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) on March 8.
Both China and the EU are firm supporters of multilateralism, Wang pointed out, stressing that they should make joint efforts to safeguard global peace and stability.
The strategic dialogue will take place as the two sides are gearing up for the 21st China-EU summit slated for next month.
