China demands the relevant parties in the U.S. respect the facts and stop interfering in China's internal affairs, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang told reporters at a news briefing on Friday.
Geng stressed that no country, organization or individual has the right to interfere in China's internal affairs, saying China’s determination to safeguard its national sovereignty remains unchanged.
Geng made the remarks after U.S. lawmakers on Thursday proposed legislation that would require an annual certification of Hong Kong autonomy.
"China adheres to the practice of 'one country, two systems,'" added Geng.
