The spokesperson for the Commissioner's Office of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) lodged a stern reprimand against one western media outlet, expressing strong disapproval of, and firm opposition against the circulation of an unnamed "false" report Monday.
"The Central Government firmly supports Chief Executive Carrie Lam and the SAR Government in governing according to law, upholding national sovereignty, security and development interests, and maintaining long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong," the HKSAR spokesperson said.
The Commissioner’s Office strongly urged the unnamed media outlet to follow journalism ethics, stop circulating fabricated information, and present responsible, objective and balanced reports, so as to constructively boost understanding of Hong Kong and contribute to its rule of law, prosperity and stability, rather than doing the opposite, the spokesperson added.
