The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Sunday night has expressed the strongest anger and condemned violent acts perpetrated at the Liaison Office and the smearing of the Chinese national emblem.
All of these acts are far beyond peaceful protesting, which is a violation of both the Basic Law of HKSAR as well as the local law, and a serious challenge to the bottom line of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy. Such violent behaviors and openly provocative acts are seriously against the Central Government's authority, the statement released by the office said.
"We strongly support Hong Kong police's timely actions and the HKSAR government to take any lawful measures to safeguard the stability of the Hong Kong society and punish violent actions," calling for Hong Kong residents to realize the harmfulness and essence of these violent activists and to safeguard the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, the statement added.
