As of Sept. 12, a total of 15,858 criminals have been pardoned by Chinese courts since the country implemented its latest special pardons in June.
Procuratorial organs across the country have reviewed a total of 23,211 cases for special pardons as of Sept. 12, and have rectified 342 improper ones.
Public and state security organs carried out social risk assessments on the criminals to be pardoned to prevent their release from causing any negative impact on social stability.
Education and social adaptability training sessions were also carried out for pardoned prisoners to help them return to their families and society.
