A large number of masked people, mostly dressed in black started blocking roads and obstructing traffic again on Sunday afternoon in an unauthorized demonstration in Hong Kong, as the prolonged social unrest entered the fifth month.
Those participants were committing the offence of "participating in an unauthorized assembly," the Hong Kong police said, appealing to members of the public to leave immediately.
Traffic on Nathan and Salisbury roads at Tsim Sha Tsui of Kowloon has been seriously disrupted, and at least two shopping malls at the once-popular tourist areas and most stores at the Chungking Mansions were forced to close due to the gathering.
Rioting and violence have engulfed Hong Kong over the past four months, particularly during the weekend, as black-clad masked radicals and rioters repeatedly went on the rampage to attack police officers, vandalize public and private properties, and commit arson or beat up people who disagreed with them.
