The Communist Party of China (CPC) has strengthened party discipline and put the interests of the Chinese people at the center of its work, a Russian communist leader has said.
"The CPC has confidently overcome all difficulties and is leading the country to a great socialist future," Dmitry Novikov, deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Russia, told Xinhua in a recent written interview.
"Chinese communists demonstrate to the world an example of wisdom," Novikov said, adding that the CPC's scientifically sound approach to governing the country partly explains China's successes.
According to Novikov, the Chinese leadership well understands that it must set an example of industriousness, honesty and modesty, and work for the good of the country and the people; only then can the CPC ignite the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Novikov was impressed by China's achievements in combating poverty -- the number of poverty-stricken people in rural areas declined by 13.86 million in 2018 and by over 700 million since the founding of the People's Republic of China 70 years ago, while the rate of poverty in rural areas dropped from 97.5 percent in 1978 to 1.7 percent in 2018.
"No other country in the world today can claim such (anti-poverty) achievements," said Novikov, who also praised China's success in promoting higher and vocational education.
"China's leadership respect human values and human rights and satisfies the growing needs of the people every day materially and culturally. The CPC stimulates the all-round development of the individual and seeks development for the people and realizes development by the people," Novikov said.
He was also impressed by the CPC's confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
"In other words, we see a system of convictions with each complementing the other," the communist leader said.
The "Four Confidences" have enriched the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and play a central role in modernizing the governance system and in the country's overall progress toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, he said.
Novikov believes that each aspect of the concept is very important for strengthening the leadership of the CPC and rallying the people around the party.
"Having become part of the public consciousness, these convictions are able to create conditions for even more confident progress," he said.
Novikov also noted that the CPC matches its words with deeds and always puts the public's needs first.
"It is my deep conviction that the experience of the CPC should be an example for any political force interested in leading the masses and achieving victory," he said.
