Metro services were disrupted in various stations and lines on Monday morning as rioters damaged facilities of stations and trains and blocked tracks.
Some radicals threw objects on railway tracks from high ground near Fanling station of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) at about 6:19 a.m. local time, and the windscreen of a running train was damaged and the train had to return to the factory for repairing.
Railway tracks near Sha Tin, Tai Wai and University stations were also blocked by objects.
Rioters also opened the emergency exit door of a train and set fire at Kwai Fong station. The fire fighting equipment at Whampoa Station was destroyed.
