The Ukrainian parliament insists on a transparent, independent and comprehensive investigation into the crash of a Ukrainian passenger plane downed near Tehran on Jan. 8, the parliament's official website said Tuesday.
"The Parliament insists on the need for a transparent, independent and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy, and calls on the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran to openly cooperate with foreign states and international organizations, and to provide every possible assistance to their work," said a statement supported by the majority of Ukrainian MPs.
The Ukrainian parliament also expects Iran to formally apologize for the crash of the plane and the death of its crew and passengers, and calls on Iran to acknowledge its full responsibility, it added.
As a result of the crash of the Boeing 737-800, which was flying from Tehran to Kiev, all 176 people on board were killed. The airplane crashed shortly after taking off.
