Paul Manafort, U.S. President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, was released on Wednesday from a federal prison in Pennsylvania.
He will serve out the rest of his 7-1/2 year sentence in home confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to his lawyer.
Manafort's sentence stemmed from two criminal cases brought against him as part of former U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation that documented Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election to boost Trump's candidacy.
