Luo Huining was designated as the National Security Adviser of the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) by China's central government on Friday.
Under the supervision of and accountable to the central government, the committee will be responsible for safeguarding national security in the region.
Earlier on Thursday, Chan Kwok-ki was appointed by China's State Council as secretary-general of the committee, upon nomination by HKSAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
