The Legislative Council (LegCo) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will begin the 2020-2021 ordinary session on October 14, 2020, according to the HKSAR government Gazette on Friday.
The date was set in accordance with section 9(2) of the Legislative Council Ordinance (542), the Gazette said, citing Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
Due to recent COVID-19 cases, the sixth LegCo will continue to perform duties for no less than a year until the term of the seventh LegCo starts, according to a decision passed earlier at the 21st session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress.
