China strongly opposes the U.S. move to further impose restrictions on Chinese diplomats in the U.S., the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. said in a statement on Wednesday.
The response came after Washington decided to require Chinese diplomats to seek permission before visiting U.S. universities, meeting local government officials or hosting large cultural events in the country.
The embassy said that China has consistently supported and provided necessary convenience for normal work-related activities of U.S. diplomats in China, urging the U.S. side to correct its mistake, withdraw the decision, and provide the same support and convenience for Chinese diplomats.
