Central China's Hubei Province, once ravaged by COVID-19, on Tuesday donated testing kits and tea to Mongolia, a token of gratitude to the Asian country that donated 30,000 sheep to support China's COVID-19 fight.

At a ceremony held in Wuhan, capital of Hubei, the provincial government said the donations included three units of PCR testing equipment, 30,000 kits for detecting the novel coronavirus, and 22,000 locally produced brick tea products, the ingredients of the popular milk tea in Mongolia.

"We hope the donations will bring the goodwill of the Hubei people to Mongolia. We also hope that these supplies can help the people of Mongolia achieve the final victory in the COVID-19 fight," said Chen Huarong, deputy head of the provincial department of commerce.

Mongolian President Khaltmaa Battulga in February visited China at a critical stage of China's COVID-19 fight and promised to send 30,000 sheep as a token of support.

The first batch of 11,267 sheep arrived in Wuhan in late November after being slaughtered. The Hubei government has decided to deliver the mutton to medical workers in Hubei who have contributed to the COVID-19 fight, the relatives of those who died in the line of duty, and medical teams across the country that had been sent to Hubei to offer a helping hand.
