A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Friday urged the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority of China's Taiwan region to stop political manipulation of vaccine issues.
Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks when commenting on the DPP's refusal of vaccines from the mainland.
The mainland has repeatedly expressed its willingness to provide assistance to Taiwan compatriots in quickly defeating the COVID-19 epidemic and offer the mainland's vaccines which have been approved by the World Health Organization for emergency use, said Ma.
The Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd. has also said it is willing to provide Taiwan with BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines, Ma further added.
The DPP has made a raft of excuses to block vaccine delivery, leading to increasing cases on the island, the spokesperson said.
Ma also urged the DPP not to put political manipulation above the health of people.
