A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Wednesday urged the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority in China's Taiwan region to remove political obstacles for mainland vaccines as the island grappled with a strong wave of COVID-19 infections.
Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the DPP authority should prioritize people's safety and health over political tricks.
He also reiterated the mainland's willingness to do its best to help Taiwan compatriots on COVID-19 vaccinations, adding that whoever flies to the mainland on civilian passenger flights can get inoculated voluntarily, as long as they meet vaccination requirements and abide by epidemic control rules for inbound travels.
