China on Thursday expressed willingness to maintain communication and coordination with Sudan and play a positive role in promoting the country's political transition process.
Zhai Jun, Chinese special envoy on Middle East affairs, made the remark during a phone call with Sudanese Foreign Minister Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi.
Sadiq thanked China for its support for Sudan's political transition process as well as economic and social development, adding he hopes China would continue to play an active role in the Sudanese issue.
Sudan was thrown into political unrest since late September as tension escalated between its military and civilian partners within the transitional government.
The Sudanese army last month took measures to end the partnership between the military and the civilian bloc within the coalition which was overseeing the transitional rule in Sudan, causing international concern.
Zhai told Sadiq that China opposes any foreign interference in Sudan's internal affairs and proposed to solve the issues through dialogue and consultation. China also called for the international community to provide more humanitarian aid to help Sudan get out of social and economic trouble.
