The Chinese Foreign Ministry reiterated on Wednesday that the "Taiwan Relations Act" and "Six Assurances" are "illegal and invalid."
"The Taiwan Relations Act and Six Assurances are purely created by certain U.S. forces which are in violation of the three China-U.S. joint communiques," Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said, answering a query over Taiwan at a regular press briefing.
The U.S. should abide by the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, which are important political consensus of the two countries and the foundation of China-U.S. relations, he added.
