China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) held their ninth high-level strategic dialogue between their foreign affairs ministries via video link on Thursday.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng and ROK First Vice Foreign Minister Choi Jong-kun co-chaired the dialogue. The two sides exchanged views on their respective foreign policies, international and regional situations, the development of bilateral relations and other issues
During the dialogue, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in addressing global issues like combating COVID-19 pandemic, handling climate change and improving global governance system. The two sides also spoke highly of each other's national development and progress achieved in recent years, highlighting that these achievements would benefit both countries.
Noting that China-ROK relations have made remarkable progress in the past three decades, the two sides agreed to take the opportunity of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2022 to enhance high-level exchanges and strategic communication and expand cooperation and exchanges across the board to promote the greater development of bilateral relations.
The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern as well, including the Korean Peninsula issue. The ROK side also showed their support for 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games and wished it a success.
