Xie Feng, Chinese ambassador to the United States, met on Monday with U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, calling for efforts to bring Sino-U.S. relations back onto the right track, according to a statement from China's embassy in the U.S..
Healthy and stable Sino-U.S. ties are beneficial to both two countries and are in line with the broad-based expectations of the international community, Xie said during the meeting with Yellen, in which they exchanged views on the bilateral economic and financial issues of mutual concern, as well as the development of Sino-U.S. relationship.
Xie stressed that the Chinese government implements a stable and consistent policy toward the U.S., and urged Washington to work with Beijing to uphold the spirit of no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, so as to push forward the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.
He also expressed hope that the U.S. and China will eliminate interference while strengthening dialogue, calling on the U.S. to put more effort into getting China-U.S. relations back on track.
The meeting was made ahead of Yellen's scheduled visit to Beijing this week.
