China firmly opposes any individual or force attacking and smearing China under the pretext of human rights, pointing fingers at the human rights situation in Xinjiang, Chinese Foreign Ministry said in response to the joint declaration issued at the “International Uyghur Forum” against China on human rights situation in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Parliamentarians from some countries issued a so-called joint declaration asking Japan to conduct an independent investigation on the human rights situation in Xinjiang during the “International Uyghur Forum” held in Tokyo, Japan, recently.
Wang Wenbin, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said during a press briefing on Wednesday that Xinjiang is a stable society which enjoys a prosperous economy, ethnic unity, religious harmony and the well-being of its people.
So far this year, more than 100 foreign delegations, including two batches of Japanese group tourists, have visited Xinjiang region to experience the unique charm of this beautiful region, Wang said, noting that they highly praised the significant achievements in economic and social development in Xinjiang region and appreciated the Chinese government’s great efforts in protecting the multi-ethnic culture in Xinjiang region and ensuring people’s freedom in religious belief.
According to Wang, the so-called World Uyghur Congress (WUC) is an anti-China and separatist organization that has long been concocting rumors and lies about Xinjiang, inciting terrorist and separatist activities. The so-called “International Uyghur Forum” is nothing more than a farce fabricated by the WUC.
Wang noted that the Xinjiang-related issues are China’s internal affairs which no country has the right to interfere in.
We firmly oppose any individual or force attacking and smearing China under the pretext of human rights, pointing fingers at the human rights situation in Xinjiang region, Wang said, noting that their schemes will never succeed.
