China attaches great importance to its relations with the United Kingdom, as the nation welcomes more investment from British businesses, Wang Huning, chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, said on Thursday.
During a meeting with members of the British Parliament from both the Conservative Party and the Labour Party in Beijing, Wang stressed that the Communist Party of China stands ready to maintain a variety of exchanges with the two parties in the UK to keep enhance mutual understanding and narrow differences.
The goal is to create a sound political atmosphere for the development of bilateral ties, he added.
The UK delegation, which included David Lidington, president of the Great Britain-China Centre and former Minister for the Cabinet Office, were in China to attend the 12th China-UK Leadership Forum.
Members of the delegation noted that the visit to China enhanced their understanding on China's development and on opportunities for UK-China cooperation.
They highlighted their readiness to promote exchanges and cooperation across various sectors to enable a joint response to global challenges.
