China vice-president meets U.S. business community

Vice-President Han Zheng called on Sunday for the business community of the United States to continue to invest in China, and actively serve as a bridge to contribute to the healthy, stable and sustainable development of bilateral ties.

Han made the remarks in Washington during a meeting with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council, the American Chamber of Commerce, and other business leaders. He is in the U.S. capital to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as special representative of President Xi Jinping on Monday.

Han talked about the recent Xi-Trump talks on the phone, and highlighted the wide range of common interests and vast cooperation opportunities between China and the U.S.

He emphasized that the positive trajectory and stable development of the bilateral relationship align with the well-being of both Chinese and American people and the general expectations of the international community.

The American business community has been a steadfast supporter of China-U.S. relations, and has actively participated in and benefited from the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts, he said.

Han reiterated China's commitment to advancing reform and opening-up and continuously improving the business environment, and expressed the hope that American companies will continue to invest in and engage with China.

Representatives from the American business community expressed optimism regarding the recent conversation between Trump and Xi, viewing it as a positive and inspiring signal.

They said that as the world's two largest and most dynamic economies with advanced technologies, the U.S. and China should engage in mutually beneficial cooperation and find constructive and stable ways to coexist.

The American business community sees promising prospects in the Chinese economy and development opportunities in China, supports enhanced dialogue and communication between the two countries to further advance bilateral relations and economic cooperation, they added.

On Sunday, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, welcoming American companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities and share in China's development achievements, thereby making greater contributions to the development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed Tesla's willingness to deepen investment cooperation with China, saying his company is willing to play an active role in facilitating economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
